Surfing Peniche | Portugal

Travels > Surfing Peniche | Portugal

Just returned in May 2008 from 4 days in Peniche, a reasonably sized fising town just an hour's drive North of Lisbon

The town is perched on a peninsula and, hence grabs the Atlantic Swells and waves on both coasts.

We were celebrating Alex's 40th and Greg, Toby, Sam, Stig and Alex were present.

Arriving in Lisbon we stacked the boards and bags into a hire car and motored off to the north in greying skies and falling rain.

We get to Peniche, unload our bags and wander to the seafront to find food. Within minutes we are sitting in a deserted but traditional fish restaurant ordering beer and wine, sampling their Olives and Fish Pastes and marvelling that they had England V Portugal from the Euro 2004 playing on the TV on the wall.

I will never get round to writing a whole page about our surf trip ( my first ) so I will just whack up some images and explain that Peniche was lovely, we had great company, superb food and just enough wine and beer.:
The waves were big enough to surf on but not too big to totally knacker me out. Now I am ready for more....
